in 25 Things Every Actor Should Know Before Coming to Hollywood,Featured

actors_networkingThis is definitely a “who-you-know” business. If you’re gonna be successful as a professional actor, you’re gonna have to mix and mingle with some industry people such as casting directors, producers, other actors and directors. The first thing you’re gonna need to get is get a ZED card or business card with your photo on it. Think of a ZED card as a mini “headshot/resume’” business card. It’s compact and it should have your phone number, agent, email address on it, etc. Oh, and of course, it should definitely say that you’re an “Actor.” I’ve seen actors go as far as putting the last gig they’ve done on their business card. Such as “Catch Jim On CSI: Miami on March 4.”

Keep your business cards handy. As you go out and attend galas, perform in plays, go on auditions, etc., you’ll need to be marketing yourself. You will see that your networking will pay off for you in the long run.
