Live a Little

Wanting to be a professional actor is a wonderful thing. However, things take time and patience is gonna be the key to your success.  It can be frustrating sometimes to watch other actors perform on television shows or movies when you know you’re good enough to be doing the same thing.  Don’t worry, there’s and old saying: “Every dog has his day.”  Every actor has paid their dues in some form or fashion before becoming a “professional” actor and you’ll have to work hard to be the best as well.

Meantime, relax, have fun!  One thing you don’t want to do is be so obsessed with becoming a famous actor that you don’t take the time to enjoy your life.  Well, you may say, “I ENJOY acting!”.  True. Nothing wrong with that but you have to have balance.  Balance helps create longevity and will help you survive as an actor in the long run.  It’s not uncommon for would-be actors to get burned out and quit simply because things didn’t turn out the way they expected.  In other words–they didn’t get famous quick enough.

Don’t worry about being famous.  Enjoy the process.  Enjoy acting but by all means do other things. Get into some other hobbies.  Exercise is very important so you can start there.  Learn different ways you can release the stress in your life.  Most likely you’re still on your “9 to 5″ so get into some other things you can enjoy.  Try snowboarding, golf (thanks to Tiger Woods, golf is not just for older people) or painting.  As you learn to appreciate life and enjoy other things, you will find that your acting career is progressing rather nicely. Whatever you do,  whatever hobby you take up,  just make sure it has NOTHING to do with acting.
